Join Our Team as a Cardiology Medical Assistant in Verona, NJ

 

Position Overview: We are looking for a Cardiology Medical Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week.This role involves assisting with cardiovascular procedures, recording heart test results accurately, applying Holter monitors, performing electrocardiograms, and educating patients on medications and nutrition. The Cardiology Medical Assistant will also provide training, support, and coaching to new clinical support staff or medical assistants to optimize care delivery.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the patients for the health care; helps to position the patient for the examination or treatment and arranges the exam room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist cardiologists, cardiology technicians, and other professionals perform non-invasive procedures that assess the health of a patient’s heart, blood vessels, arteries, and lungs.
  • Set up a variety of imaging methods, such as electrocardiograms, holter monitors, telemetry monitors.
  • Verifies patient information with the patient: reviews and/or records medical history, takes vital signs and confirms the purpose of visit.
  • Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions and answering questions, authorizes drug refills as directed; telephones prescriptions to pharmacies.
  • Answers patient questions on referrals and initiates referral process with patients and specialists.
  • Records billing information of services rendered; completes insurance forms; responds to insurance and other third-party inquiries
  • Updates medical records by recording patient examination, treatment information plans, and test results.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Keeps equipment in good condition, troubleshoots breakdowns; maintains supplies; performs preventive maintenance and calls for repairs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and practice HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Vanguard Medical Group leadership.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA/RMA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in a medical office, Cardiology experience preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic medical records (EMR); Athena experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and be a proactive team player.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • May require light lifting (up to 20 lbs.) for supplies or office materials.
  • Must have visual and auditory acuity to operate computer systems and phones.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated base hourly rate for this position ranges from $19.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on the role and experience level. Additionally, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and other company-sponsored benefits.
